BÖBE was a result of a one week long project for designing an iconic public transport ship for Budapest. We aimed at unique simplicity, sightseeing features and speeding up the docking process. Our team had no transportation designers, so we were left to use our logic and sense of form. We created an almost toy-like look for a ship that could surely become an icon on the river of our capital.
co-designers: Bányai Csaba, Csanki Bea, Kőrös Benedek, Kovácsik Bence, Söjtöry Szabolcs
The ports are all colour coded, and very minimalistic in design, so they don't clash with the architecture of the surroundings. The circulation of boarding passengers means shorter stops.
Since none of us were vehicle-designers, we started building the ship from the inside out, determining different "zones" and keeping usability in mind. We accentuated the sightseeing possibilities with large glass walls, and an open upper deck, sped up the process of docking with an automated system and a passenger-flow solution, and "tied" the ship together with a unifying blue bow.
